BetterCare Intelligent Navigator
Build a smarter health and care preparation plan
Choose what you need help with and the Navigator will ask follow-up questions that change with your situation. It then ranks the most relevant BetterCare guides and tools, explains why they were selected and turns them into a practical next-step plan.

Ranked BetterCare resources
This tool organises and prioritises information. It does not diagnose symptoms, assess whether a medicine is suitable, prescribe treatment or replace instructions from a healthcare professional.
Why this is an intelligent planner rather than a static directory
The BetterCare Navigator does not show everyone the same list. Your first choice changes the follow-up questions. A person preparing for a GP appointment is asked about appointment preparation, medicines and follow-up. An unpaid carer is asked about assessments, care records, emergency backup and hospital recovery. Someone trying to gain weight is asked whether appetite, recovery or affordability is the main barrier and whether continuing or unexplained weight loss may need professional assessment.
The tool then scores the BetterCare resource library against those answers. The strongest match is placed first, supporting resources are ranked beneath it, and each recommendation includes a short explanation of why it was selected. This creates a more useful plan than a generic list of links while keeping the health boundary clear.
What the Navigator can intelligently personalise
- which BetterCare tool or guide should be the starting point;
- which supporting resources are most relevant next;
- which practical steps should be completed before an appointment or conversation;
- whether medicines, test results, caring responsibilities, discharge planning, appetite or food budgeting need more attention;
- whether the selected answers indicate that urgent NHS help or professional assessment should take priority over self-directed planning.
Why it does not try to diagnose you
Intelligence is useful when it improves organisation and decision support. It becomes unsafe when a general website pretends to know enough about a person to diagnose a condition or prescribe treatment. BetterCareSolutions therefore uses the Navigator to organise choices, prioritise resources and highlight appropriate routes to professional help. It does not ask visitors to enter a detailed private symptom history simply to produce a confident-sounding medical answer.
If someone is seriously ill or injured and life may be at risk, emergency care takes priority. If urgent medical help is needed but the situation is not a 999 emergency, NHS 111 can help direct the person to an appropriate service. Specific instructions already given by a healthcare professional should take priority over a general website tool.
How your answers are handled
The matching engine runs inside the browser. BetterCareSolutions does not need to transmit these planner selections to an external AI model in order to rank the existing resource library. This keeps the tool fast and reduces unnecessary collection of health-related information.
A future model-assisted layer could be added for natural-language explanation, but it should only be introduced with an appropriate privacy design, clear disclosure and strict limits on what health information is processed. The current intelligent engine provides adaptive questioning and ranked recommendations without requiring that additional data transfer.
Use the plan as a starting point
The result is designed to be practical. You can open the highest-priority guide, copy the plan into your notes or print it before an appointment. If the situation changes, run the Navigator again with a different goal. The same person may need appointment preparation today, medicine organisation after a hospital visit next week and a carer contingency plan later.
